Academic Achievers School Tour 2020

Congratulations on your achievement!

Join academic achievers from across South Africa in rewarding your academic excellence! Further your quest in developing your skills and fulfilling your potential through international exposure on a very unique tour.

If you have received an invitation through your school, it means your school has classified you as an Academic Achiever and sent us your name for the tour invitation. If your school doesn’t already participate, but you’ve heard about the tour and would like to join, you must please send us your most recent report card. We will then be in touch to let you know whether you qualify.

Touring overseas in general as a learner is an invaluable experience. It creates a platform for your child to be exposed to a variety of top class institutions, cultures, history and unique experiences. This all leads to character-building, confidence, independence, self-discovery and very often the creation of lasting friendships.Travelling within a supervised group, with your school mates is also only available for a limited period of time, usually during your high school years. Once school is over, the opportunity is lost forever.

This particular tour’s unique nature lies firstly within the tour group. A group of like-minded academic achievers from across South Africa who get to interact, network and learn together, often forging new and lasting friendships. Secondly, the tour offers academically gifted learners the opportunity to further their quest in developing their skills and fulfilling their potential through attending private, thought-provoking lectures based on topical subjects, hosted by thought-leaders at world renowned universities! In addition to this, travellers will also go on campus tours to get an inside view of how these top class universities operate. It is important to expose children to the best in the world, for them to create an informed and accurate perception about opportunities that are available, how the best operate and how they can align themselves with the best. Whether it be by studying abroad or taking what they have experienced and applying it to their own work ethic. In addition to the above, the tour brings iconic sites to life through enlightening visits coordinated by local guides.

Schools from across South Africa participate. See the list here. If you can’t download the document, then you can view the list here. Each school sends in their list of academic achievers and those learners are then invited to join the tour. Teachers from participating schools are invited to tour along in a supervisory capacity, based on a ratio of 10-12 children per adult. Members of staff from Travel & Sport also tour along as well as local guides accompanying the group.

Once you have received your invitation, and you would like to accept and join the tour, please send in your reply slip. We will send you acknowledgement of receipt as well as further steps for booking. In order to confirm your booking please make deposit payment. See our banking details here. You will receive regular notifications from Travel & Sport regarding travel requirements, visa guidelines and so on. During the first term of 2019 regional meetings will be held where you will have the opportunity to meet your tour consultant and discuss certain details in person. Notifications regarding the various meetings will be sent well in advance.

“The universities are world-renowned and are of the best. We wanted to expose Louis to that level of education…it is important that we still show Louis what the highest standards are. If he is able to study there one day or not is irrelevant, however he must know how the best in the world operate.

The other learners on this tour are on a similar academic standard to Louis, and we wanted to expose him to these learners.

We had huge expectations and we are pleased that the tour met them all. Louis was in awe of the universities and the campus life in the USA. He also made wonderful friends, some of which I think he may stay in touch with for life. The whole experience has helped him in developing his ambitions and future.”
