We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2019 Brighton Grammar School “Across the Alps” Science and Technology Tour to Europe. Over the 13-day tour routing, the group will visit a number of cities & sights in Italy, Switzerland & France with the tour highlights including, among others:

This special interest focus tour is customised around exposing the boys to the very essence of Science & Technology in Europe, its history, development and future possibilities. They will also have the unique opportunity to investigate various University programmes & see the industry 1st-hand.


The tour is customised & routed to afford the learners the opportunity to explore not only the selected subject fields, but to also incorporate a true “World Travel” element, keeping the group busy with many fun & exciting excursions.

  • Day 1:Depart on your overnight flight from Australia, bound for Rome, Italy.
  • Day 2: Arrive Rome - Arrive early this morning in Rome and transfer directly to your hotel to check in & freshen up. Then, begin your journey with a full-day city tour of the historic Roman city centre, including stops at the Roman Forum & Appian Way. Continue your tour of the past, with viewings of the Palatine and Capitoline Hills including the Hippodrome and Constantine's Arch. Finally, this afternoon transfer to the mighty Colosseum for a guided tour of this iconic structure. Return to your accommodation, enjoy dinner & cap off a thrilling 1st day with a walking evening fountains tour viewing the illuminated fountains including the Trevi Fountain, Bernini’s Fountain & the Spanish Steps.
  • Day 3: Rome - After spending the previous day walking in the footsteps of one of Mankind’s greatest empire builders, begin this morning with a transfer to the Holy centre of Catholicism and the smallest sovereign city-state in the World – The Vatican City! After a light lunch, continue on to Rome’s La Sapienza University. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of this 712-year old institution. After touring the campus, attend a private lecture. *Subject to availability
  • Day 4: Rome - Pompeii - Rome - Today, take a day-trip transfer by coach on to your next stop on tour – Pompeii! Upon arrival in Pompeii, take an exciting guided Archaeological Tour of the site. Later, return to Rome after a day of wondrous discovery in this ancient place.
  • Day 5: Rome - Pisa - Florence - Today, bid farewell to this ‘Eternal City’ and make your way north and onward to the city of Florence, stopping en-route in the beautiful town of Siena. Travel on to your next stop on tour – Pisa – before travelling on to the “City of Lilies” – Florence! On arrival, in this World-famous city, enjoy a short walking tour and a viewing of The Leaning Tower of Pisa! Travel on to Florence and check in upon arrival.
  • Day 6: Florence - After breakfast this morning, a busy day awaits with a tour aptly titled In the Footsteps of Galileo.Begin with a visit to the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory located just outside the centre of Florence, on the same hill where Galileo Galilei spent, in forced exile, the last 11 years of his life making many of his cosmological observations, namely the phases of Venus and the Galilean moons of Jupiter. After exploring this early ‘House of Stars’, continue on to the Museo Galileo, a museum dedicated exclusively to this famous astrophysicist and mathematician. Finally, end-off an enigmatic day of wonder and discovery with a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia to admire one of Michelangelo’s masterpieces – The Statue of David.
  • Day 7: Florence – Maranello - Milan - Depart Florence and head into the heart of Italy, headed for Maranello – home of Ferrari! Here, enjoy a visit to Galleria Ferrari’s “Red Campus”, where the group will learn all about the mechanics of Ferrari cars, their production, and the science involved. Enjoy some leisure time before travelling on to the city of Milan. After exploring the world of high-octane precision engineering, enjoy a pleasant lunch and then continue on to the city of Milan. Upon arrival in Milan, travel to the Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci for a tour of discovery and to learn about the man who so influenced how we think about science.
  • Day 8: Milan – Chamonix, France – Geneva, Switzerland. This morning, continue your journey to the next leg of the tour – Geneva Switzerland. After travelling through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, stop in the town of Chamonix where a tour highlight awaits – Passage up the Aiguille du Mid to get up close to the snow-covered the summit of Mont Blanc! Continue on and arrive in Geneva, Switzerland after passing through France and transfer to your accommodation in this exquisite city overlooking her self-named magnificent lake, with an authentic cultural vibe, and spend some time exploring this alpine heath.
    Upon arrival, check into your accommodation before heading out to the internationally-renowned Edelweiss Restaurant for dinner this evening!
  • Day 9: CERN -  After breakfast in this alpine resort-city, depart for the ICT Discovery Centre for a journey into the world of modern day technology and communications. This United Nations initiative is aimed specifically at informing aspiring young technology professionals of the career possibilities in this booming industry. This afternoon, round off an action-packed day with a visit to the famed CERN facility. Return to CERN today where you will visit the Microcosm Exhibition as well as exploring the history of this important institution visiting the Synchro-Cyclotron.
  • Day 10: Geneva - Paris - Today, bid farewell to Geneva and board your coach to the City of Lights - Paris, France.Arriving in the city, disembark your coach and transfer to your hotel. Check in and enjoy some leisure time, resting tired legs, before transferring this evening, to the Eiffel Tower to enjoy the glittering Global icon. Here, travel up to the top level to enjoy the breath-taking nigh-time views.
  • Day 11: ParisAfter breakfast at your hotel, travel to visit the Cite des Sciences et de l’Industrie and  take an epic journey through the museum marvelling at the interstellar constellations at the 15-meter wide Zeiss Planetarium. This afternoon, enjoy a self-guided Walking Tour of Paris today where the group will visit a number of iconic sites in the city including the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral and Arc de Triomphe before heading over to the iconic Louvre Museum! This evening, the group will have the opportunity to enjoy the city of Paris at their leisure. Visite Zone passes will afford access to the group to the heart of the city.
  • Day 12:Paris - Melbourne -Following breakfast, transfer to a much-anticipated highlight of the tour for a full day of fun – Disneyland Paris!Here you will be able to enjoy access to the park of your choice! Following a thrilling day of adventure at Disney, transfer to the airport where you will board your overnight flight to Melbourne.
  • Day 13: Arrive Melbourne, AustraliaArrive back in Australia today, exhausted, though utterly fulfilled.
