On the 10th of December 2018 the TS Dream Team departed Johannesburg for the rolling green hills of Ireland. The Dream team was made up of players who were selected at the King Edward VII Preparatory Easter Rugby Festival. They only had a handful of training sessions to work on a couple moves and build some team spirit and work on team cohesion.
Once in Ireland the boys were exposed to the unique and friendly culture of the Irish as well as their deep seeded passion for rugby. The group toured around Ireland for 10 days visiting Dublin, Cork and Limerick. They were also treated to excursions such as Croke park, Aviva Stadium, The Adventure Centre, We Escape, Thomond Park and Cliffs of Moher.
While touring the beautiful country side of Ireland the boys also played three extremely tough matches against local club teams. The games were a great match up and even though it was just a friendly match the games were played at a great intensity and high skill level. The totally different brand of rugby played in the northern hemisphere posed a new challenge to the Dream team, but they managed to pull off the great wins on tour.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Coach Thando Magalakangqa, who was the head coach of the KEPS 2018 1st XV. The boys were able to perform as a unit and managed to return home undefeated racking up 3 wins in as many matches.
Coach Thando will once again be the Head coach of the Travel and Sport Dream team as the class of 2019 looks to take on Italy in December. The position of team manager is still open, we will extend the invitation to the coach who has the most players selected in the Dream team and based on His/ Her own team’s performance.
